Weekly Watchlist - Aug.02, 2025
While overall market breadth pulled back significantly this week, there were still a couple bright spots worth highlighting.
Akita Drilling - Market Cap $90 Million - Breakout Candidate
I’ve discussed Akita Drilling in the past, consistently highlighting it as an undervalued name with a strong path toward financial improvement. When I last mentioned it in the June 1 report, the stock was trading at $2.09. Since then, it’s moved modestly higher, but recent developments warrant renewed attention. Earlier this week, Akita reported strong Q2 2025 results, showing continued operational strength and significant progress on balance sheet improvement.
Akita reduced its total debt from $52 million to $39 million in Q2—down from a peak of $95 million in 2022. This marks a major milestone in the company’s multi-year deleveraging strategy. Management noted that this debt reduction brings Akita below its internal leverage threshold, which has now triggered the company’s return-of-capital strategy.
That includes: • Launching a Normal Course Issuer Bid (NCIB) to repurchase up to 1.9 million shares (~5% of float) beginning August 6, 2025 and continuing to pay down debt in parallel, reinforcing balance sheet strength.
Kingfisher Metals - Market Cap $34 Million - Breakout
What a weekly close for Kingfisher Metals on Friday — up over 25% with a strong volume candle for the week. These are very bullish technical signals, indicating growing investor interest and speculation.
Kingfisher is currently deep into a 7,500-metre drill program at its HWY 37 Project, located in the highly prospective Golden Triangle region of British Columbia. This area is known for hosting some of Canada’s largest and most valuable copper-gold deposits. The company recently released encouraging drilling results from hole HW-25-004, which intersected an extensive zone of intense potassic alteration spanning nearly 500 metres.
Potassic alteration is often associated with significant porphyry copper-gold mineralization, highlighting the potential for a large, economically viable system. Adding to the excitement, Kingfisher shared detailed images of drill core showing abundant visible gold and bornite, a high-grade copper mineral. This visual confirmation of mineralization tends to attract speculators and investors looking for early-stage discovery potential in a top-tier jurisdiction.
With the drill program ongoing, and positive results starting to surface, speculators and the market appear to be recognizing Kingfisher’s upside. If upcoming drilling continues to confirm the scale and grade of the system, the company could be on the path toward significantly increasing its valuation.
